ViaGlobal's Newest Employee - Famous Mountain Climber

For Immediate Release

January 11, 2011

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- ViaGlobal Group is proud to welcome Mr. Harry Taylor as instructor of KASOTC.

ViaGlobal proudly welcomes world-renowned mountain climber and extreme sport enthusiast Harry Taylor as its newest hire. Harry Taylor will take the lead in implementing state of the art climbing, rappelling, and mountain warfare courses at The King Abdullah Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC) in Amman, Jordan. His wealth of experience and expertise will add great value to the quality and diversity of KASOTC’s specialized warfare training.

Harry Taylor is no stranger to military service. He served in 45 Commando Unit of the British Royal Marines, one of Great Britain’s most historic infantry units. Shortly after his service in the Royal Marines, he joined B Squadron of Britain’s Special Air Service (SAS). Harry Taylor served in Northern Ireland with both units and was later selected to work on an anti-poaching project in Africa.

Harry Taylor is best known for his six Mount Everest expeditions. In 1988, he was the first person ever to climb the East-North-East ridge of Everest, also know as the ‘Unclimbed Ridge’. In 1993 he was the first Briton to climb Everest on Nepal’s Southeast ridge without supplementary oxygen. He has also taken his passion for extreme sports to other regions of the world by paragliding off of Alaska’s Mt. McKinley summit (tallest mountain in North America, 20,320 ft) and Nepal’s Cho Oyo summit (world’s sixth tallest peak, 28,000 ft). Harry Taylor’s Team set the world record for distance on a paraglider in Namibia by gliding 150.6 kilometers. He has led expeditions to K2 on the China/Pakistan border (28,251 ft), Xixabangma in Tibet (14th highest peak in the world), and new routes on the east face of Mt Blanc du Tacul in the French Alps.

Harry is certified by the International Federated Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA) to guide in rock, alpine, and ski mountaineering without limitations. He has worked on 15 films as technical advisor, safety instructor, and stunt man including the documentary film ‘Touching the Void” which is based on Joe Simpson’s 1988 novel.

Harry’s experience as a soldier, climber, and guide is a great compliment to KASOTC’s training menu and expertise.
